A video of the firing of Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems (TOS-1A) and UR-77 Meteorite (Zmey Gorynych) self-propelled rocket launchers at the Center-2019 exercises appeared on the network, the Zvezda TV channel reported.

TOS-1A "Solntsepek" is a modification of TOS-1 "Pinocchio", a heavy flamethrower multiple launch rocket system based on the T-72 tank. Distinctive features of the new items are the number of shells reduced to 24, the firing range increased to 6 kilometres, the KrAZ chassis has been replaced by a modernized tracked base of the T-72A tank, Military Review reports.

The meteorite is a Soviet self-propelled demining installation. Created on the basis of self-propelled howitzer 2C1 "Carnation". UR-77 is able to make moves in anti-tank minefields during the battle. The width of the passage is about 6 meters, and the length is from 80 to 90 meters.

Despite the fact that the UR-77 is not intended for mine clearing, the installation can clear the fields of American M14 pressure mines, creating passages up to 14 meters wide.

Centre-2019 strategic command and staff exercises are held from September 16 to 21 under the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov. Manoeuvres are carried out at six Russian combined-arms training grounds “Totsky”, “Donguz”, “Adanak”, “Chebarkulsky”, “Yurginsky”, “Aleisky”.

The ranges of the air forces and air defense forces "Ashuluk", "Safakulevo", as well as in the waters of the Caspian Sea, are also involved. Some episodes of the fight against illegal armed groups take place at the training grounds of partner states.

In total, about 128 thousand military personnel, more than 20 thousand weapons and military equipment, about 600 aircraft and up to 15 ships and support vessels, 250 tanks, 450 infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers, 200 artillery take part in the Center-2019 SKU. systems and MLRS.

In the course of the exercises, the issues of the use of groupings of coalition forces of states in solving the problems of combating international terrorism and ensuring military security in the Central Asian strategic direction are worked out.

As a result of the exercises, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu handed the medals “For Distinction in Exercises” to three Russian servicemen. The medals “For Strengthening the Military Commonwealth” were awarded to three servicemen each from India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The exercises were attended by the presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Vladimir Putin and Sooronbai Jeenbekov. In addition to observing the manoeuvres, politicians tried bread baked in a field bakery. After completing the active phase of the exercises, they headed to the trailed bakery, where tables with a loaf, pies, rolls and other treats were displayed.

Putin, Jeenbekov and military leaders took a piece of freshly baked bread and a cup of tea and had a tea party "on their feet." During the conversation, Putin noted the successful nature of the exercises.

“He reacted very positively,” said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president.

According to the representative of the Kremlin, the Russian leader was informed online about what happened during the manoeuvres, the NSN reports.

In addition, during the exercises, Shoigu discussed with his Chinese counterpart Colonel General Wei Fenghe a plan for cooperation between the military departments for 2020 - 2021, the FAN reports.
