The blue spectrum of light has proven ... useful

Using dim, cool light in the evening and bright warm light during the day can be more beneficial to our health.

Contrary to popular belief, the blue spectrum of light may not be as dangerous to our sleep as it was assumed over the past few years. With such a statement, scientists from the University of Manchester released.

Research by a team of scientists has shown that using dim, cool light in the evening and bright warm light during the day can be more beneficial for our health.

At dusk, natural light becomes dimmer and takes on blue hues. The biological clock uses this feature to determine the appropriate time for sleep and wakefulness.

The blue spectrum of light has proven ... useful

Modern technologies implemented in smartphones limit the emission of the blue part of the light spectrum. As a result, our body receives mixed messages, according to researchers at the University of Manchester.

The fact is that when the blue part of the light spectrum is turned off in the evening, the user observes a picture, accompanied by colours that he usually sees during the day.

The study, which was conducted on mice, used specially designed lighting, which allowed the team to adjust the colour without changing the brightness.

Tests have shown that blue has a weaker effect on the biological clock of a mouse than yellow.

The results of the study, according to team representatives, should be important in the design of lighting and displays that should not interfere with users' healthy sleep.
