Fake or Real - Xiaomi 12 Ultra real image with packaging

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra could almost be described as a kind of meme, after all, pictures have been circulating on the web for months that are supposed to show the design of the Xiaomi camera flagship that is said to be coming soon, without there ever having been a really reliable leak. At least the currently popular image of a Xiaomi 12 Ultra with packaging can be exposed relatively easily as a fake.

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra may collapse because somehow the round ring camera seems to be very reminiscent of the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate that was launched yesterday in China. Maybe someone got it mixed up? Be that as it may, at least the image of a Xiaomi flagship next to its alleged packaging, which is currently often used in various Weibo posts and recently also referred to on Twitter as "Xiaomi 12 Ultra Prototype", we can unmask as a fake with a clear conscience

This Xiaomi 12 Ultra image is currently quite popular and is also used as a thumbnail in YouTube videos or in videos on other video streaming platforms. However, as can be found relatively easily using a Google image search, the likely source is originally an image of a Mi 11 

Ultra. The image is also used on an online marketplace  (see also screenshot below). It was obviously edited in Photoshop, so unfortunately it doesn't show a real Xiaomi 12 Ultra either. 

Xiaomi 12 Ultra may get Sony's flagship IMX8XX series image sensor

According to a Chinese source, Xiaomi 12 Ultra may receive a Sony IMX8XX series image sensor. Many flagships of this year are equipped with Sony IMX766 sensors: they are used in Xiaomi 12, Honor Magic4, Realme GT 2 Pro, Oppo Find X5 Pro, etc. But if Xiaomi 12 Ultra gets an IMX8XX sensor, it will definitely have an advantage over all these models.

According to rumors, Sony is preparing an IMX800 sensor with an optical format of about 1 inch and a resolution of 50 megapixels. No other sensors are expected in the line yet, so the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is likely to receive this particular sensor. Also, Xiaomi 12 Ultra is assigned a module with a 48-megapixel sensor and a telephoto lens with 5x zoom, and a second module with a sensor of the same resolution and an ultra-wide-angle lens. It is assumed that the main camera system of the new Xiaomi flagship will be presented under the Leica brand.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra tops DxOMark Rating and outperforms Huawei P50 Pro

Verified insider Digital Chat Station has released new details about Xiaomi's flagship smartphone 12 Ultra, confirming that Xiaomi has teamed up with Leica to develop the phone's camera system, so it should top the DxOMark rankings upon release.

Recall that Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, released a year ago, still ranks second with a score of 143 points, second only to the Huawei P50 Pro camera phone, which was released in June and scored 144 points.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra should receive three modules, including a wide-angle main camera, an ultra-wide-angle, and a periscope camera. In terms of configuration, this is the same set as Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, but it is obvious that Xiaomi 12 should receive various hardware and software improvements.

New details about the flagship Xiaomi 12 Ultra

Many specifications of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra are already known, and now the verified insider Digital Chat Station has published details about the battery capacity and charging power.

The source says that Xiaomi's new flagship smartphone will be limited to 120W, while the battery capacity will be 4900 mAh. It's worth noting that the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a slightly smaller 4600mAh battery and supports the company's 120W fast charging. At the same time, last year's Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was equipped with a 5000 mAh battery.

The new Xiaomi flagship is credited with a 2K curved Samsung OLED screen, a top-end camera, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 single-chip system, stereo speakers, and support for 50W wireless charging. The presentation of the device is expected this spring.
