Mercedes-Benz introduced a symbiotic electric car VISION AVTR in the style of "Avatar"

Daimler AG constantly presents concept cars at various exhibitions, so the current CES 2020 was no exception. Moreover, this time the company has prepared something very special. The novelty is called VISION AVTR, and it is perfect for Cameron's Avatar universe.

Auto is the embodiment of the idea of ​​ecology and the interaction of passengers with cars as with a living organism. The developers note that it was the symbiotic relationships of the heroes of the movie Avatar that inspired their unusual aesthetics.

At the rear of the car are 33 multidirectional "surface elements", as they are described in Mercedes. They, like reptile scales, can tremble and move in waves.

The car must be powered by an organic graphene-based battery. 

Caring for the environment is generally the fundamental concept of VISION AVTR. So, the seats are decorated with microfiber, which should not wear out over the entire life of the car, and the floor is made using karuun - a fast-growing rattan supplied from Indonesia.

Vision AVTR received a fully-controlled chassis, so it can move not only forward, but also sideways at an angle of 30 °. For this, the wheels of the front and rear axles can turn both in one direction and in opposite directions. Engineers describe this as a “crab gait,” and believe that such a “skill” can be useful in congested cities. For example, when parking.

Driving a concept car has nothing to do with traditional controls. The VISION AVTR has no steering wheel or pedals. All there is is a bio-joystick in the central panel. The driver needs to put his hand on it, the car recognizes the pulse - and it starts up. Interestingly, the joystick backlight pulsates along with the driver's pulse. Riding by moving the joystick in the right direction. 

There is a large display in front of the driver, but the control of various auto systems is done using gestures and a projection system.

The audiovisual part of the information system, piercing it through, is tied to the context of car use. For example, if the system determines that there is a family inside, then a picture from the rear seats will be displayed in front of the parents on the front screen - to make it easier to keep track of the children. And the backlight will pulse to the beat of the parents ’pulse - this, according to the idea, should give a" sense of connectedness and security. "

In general, the Mercedes-Benz VISION AVTR turned out to be probably the most symbiotic, lively and unusual concept car of our time. But Daimler AG seriously believes that over time, cars really will become like that. True, how much time will be spent on this is not yet clear.
