Apple Unleashed: What's new on October 18th

Finally, the time has come, the next-generation MacBook Pro will be officially presented on Monday, October 18, possibly together with some other exciting products, because Apple has the invitations to a launch event sent.

Apple has just sent out the invitation embedded below to the press. Accordingly, the company will broadcast a launch event live on Monday, October 18th, starting at 7:00 p.m. German time, under the motto "Apple Unleashed". As usual, Apple does not comment on which products are being presented, but the invitation inevitably reminds of a warp jump in Star Trek, so that the graphics should be an allusion to "speed".

That fits, because over the past few weeks, there have been countless rumors that the launch of the next-generation MacBook Pro is imminent. The new notebooks will be exciting because Apple is to build in a brand new M1X ARM SoC, which with eight performance cores and two efficiency cores should offer significantly better performance than the Apple M1  in the current MacBook Air ( approx. 990 euros on Amazon ). For this purpose, Apple should offer a graphics chip with up to 32 computing units, instead of just eight in the M1.

In addition, you can expect a progressive mini-LED display, optionally with a diagonal of 14 inches or 16 inches. The design is to be revised  - rumors generally assume that the notebooks will get thinner screen bezels and a keyboard with function keys instead of a touch bar. The new MacBook Pro will also offer additional connections, including an SD card reader, an HDMI port, and a magnetic MagSafe charging connector.

Aside from the next-generation MacBook Pro, there is also the possibility that a more powerful Mac Mini with a new design and Apple M1X, a 27-inch iMac with the new chip and a revised design, or a smaller Mac Pro with an ARM processor will be presented would also be the launch of the third-generation AirPods.

The well-known display analyst Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants has now spoken out (via 9to5Mac ) and stated that the mini-LED display of the next-generation MacBook Pro has a frame rate of 120 Hz will offer - a first for Apple laptops. The analyst assumes that Apple will use a similar panel for the MacBook Pro as for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which already offers a 120 Hz mini-LED display.
